Challenge
To create the privacy and comfortable feel of her old neighborhood with its mature trees and shrubs. An avid gardener, she wanted many flower beds in which to "play", colorful views from every room, and elements to remind the viewer of a Wisconsin prairie.

The owner of this newly constructed home, built on a large, wide-open site, desired the privacy and comfortable feel of her old neighborhood with its mature trees and shrubs. A decorative brick walkway leads to the front doorthrough the colorful perenial beds.

The English Cottage garden was created to mix colorful perennials with shrubs and trees. These wrap around the house, instantly giving the home the feel the owner desired.

The deck at the back of the home leads to a patio which provides a beautiful setting for relaxing or entertaining.

A decorative trellis and a pond, added by the owners after the initial landscaping phase, add focal points to the back yard.

Limestone retaining walls add a decorative touch while providing function - shoring up the a moderate slope near the base of the house.

A hot, dry space is the perfect place to grow rock garden flowers.

It is a pleasure to watch the wildlife and sunlight play upon the grasses in the prairie.
